Description
Viagra Professional is a sildenafil-based medication used for treatment of erectile dysfunction in men due to its improved formula, which, compared to Brand Viagra or Viagra (Generic), takes effect faster and allows it to last longer.
Its mechanism of action is similar of that of Brand Viagra and Viagra (Generic); its active ingredient is sildenafil citrate that interacts with natural mechanisms of response to sexual stimulation and uses nitric oxide (a natural body chemical) to relax smooth muscles. This increases blood flow into certain areas of the penis and leads to erection; however, the specific ability of Viagra Professional to interact with blood flow is what makes it effective in treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension but also requires caution as it may be a reason of side effects related to blood-pressure.
Side effects of Viagra Professional are rare; however, it can cause some of the following symptoms:
• allergic reaction (very rare but must be reported to your doctor immediately);
• dizziness, headache or feeling light-headed;
• facial redness;
• stuffy nose;
• upset stomach and/or diarrhea;
• heartburn;
• impaired vision.
To decrease the risk of developing side effects, it is required that your doctor authorized treatment with Viagra Professional if you:
• are hypersensitive or allergic to sildenafil or other substances;
• are already taking other medications for treatment of erectile dysfunction; nitrates-containing drugs for treatment of chest pain, heart conditions or hypertension; recreational amyl or butyl nitrite-containing drugs (so-called “poppers”) or alpha-blockers.
Grapefruit juice might interact with sildenafil citrate and should be avoided during treatment with Viagra Professional.
Overdose of Viagra Professional might cause nausea, weakness or feeling light-headed, irregular heartbeat, and chest pain. Those symptoms must be reported to your doctor as soon as possible.
